Lithofacies features and reservoir properties of Jurassic terrigenous deposits of the Bukhara-Khiva oil and gas region

The article deals with the facial features of the cross-section Jurassic clastic formation that allows setting of certain patterns of changes in the values of the porosity and permeability of the reservoir, depending on the conditions of deposition. It was found that the rocks - collectors are composed of sand - siltstones, less coarse clastic formations of the channel, fluvial-deltaic, wavecut genesis (The beach facies), a diverse composition, structure and texture with intergranular porosity. Rare fractured argillaceous siltstone accumulations are observed in the floodplain and lake - wading conditions where the permeability is associated with fracturing.

Keywords: rock–collectors, terrigenous deposits, reservoir properties, intergranular porosity.

A novel prediction model for rheological properties of drilling fluids at hthp conditions and its evaluation

As the oil and gas exploration and development are turning to high temperatures and high pressure (HTHP) deeper and complex formations, the narrow density window drilling problems are widespread. And the drilling fluids rheological properties are often affected by HTHP, the careful research on the drilling fluids rheological properties at HTHP is very important. The rheological properties of a high density (2.04 sg) oil-based drilling fluid at HTHP were measured. The experimental results indicate that the pressure effect on the rheological properties at ambient temperature was considerable, and this effect could be gradually reduced with the increase of temperature. Based on the experimental data, a comprehensive prediction model for HTHP rheological parameters was established, a novel mathematical model for calculating the HTHP shear stress of different shear rate at HTHP was formulated, which established the relationship between HTHP and shear stress directly, rather than the traditional model that related the specific rheological parameters (such as Bingham yield stress, Bingham plastic viscosity, et al) to HTHP, and therefore this model is applicable for all common rheological models (Bingham, Power-law, Casson, Herschel-Bulkley, et al.). And then the HTHP rheological parameters can be obtained easily based on the accurate HTHP shear stress. The predictions of this model have been compared with several set of HTHP rheological experimental data, and the results show very good agreements with the experimental data. Therefore it can be used to accurately predict the rheological parameters and calculate the hydraulic parameters in the HTHP conditions while drilling.

Keywords: HTHP rheological experiment, HTHP shear stress, rheological parameters, generalized prediction model, application and evaluation.

The impact of engineering parameters on shale oil and gas production: theory and practice

Production performance of shale oil and gas wells is complicated due to the uncertainty of fracture geometry and heterogeneity of reservoir properties, et al. Especially, it is difficult to link the engineer parameters such as stage, cluster, proppant, fracture fluid to well production, which is significant for fracturing design and optimization. The purpose of this study is trying to find out this link and reveal the production performance and influence factors for shale oil and gas reservoirs. A large number of analytical modeling has done and the sensitivity of production influence factors has studied. Moreover, a field case of shale oil and gas basin in US is analyzed and compared with the theoretic study results. Sensitivity study showed that the production rate increases with fracture half-length, conductivity and horizontal well length increase, while declines with the fracture spacing increases. All of the engineering parameters have optimal values. Field case stated that the influence rules of engineering parameters on production are consistent with the theoretical modeling results, but it is more complicated. It is shown that production has positive correlation with horizontal well length, and has ascending trend with stage, cluster, fracture fluid, proppant increase although it is not obvious. However, the production contribution per increment of their values will decline when they increase. In most cases, the increase of engineering parameters could not lead to production decline, and will only add the operation cost and difficulty. So in order to design the engineering parameters, the optimal value should be determined based on economic indexes. The link between fracturing parameters and fracture characteristics is significant. Fracturing monitoring or fracture propagation modeling is required and necessary to understand well performance for shale oil and gas reservoirs.

Experience and prospects on application of well screen with inflow control device

When field development using large extent horizontal wells and at significant flow rates there occurs the heel-toe effect, which results in premature bottom water or gas breakthrough during development of under-gas-cap zone. To solve this problem, and for inflow profile alignment we use devices for passive (Inflow Control Device) and active (Inflow Control Valve) inflow control. An overview of new generation well screen with passive and active control device of fluid and formation sand inflow and the possibility of their usage in the Azerbaijan fields is given in the article.

Estimated results of biotechnology application based on formation stimulation at field «Bibiheybat»

On the basis of actual material in view of the requirements to the technology of Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR), we’ve analyzed the results obtained on a site of the field «Bibiheybat» during continual utilization of biological processes for Enhanced Oil Recovery. Based on the results, we’ve evaluated effectiveness of the method depending on compliance with the technological requirements and ensuring complete oil displacement, providing an additional incremental produced oil volume from pilot area wells.

Change of mechanical behavior of elastic tubing material in periodic loading conditions

The results on definition of mechanical behavior of elastic tubing material in periodic loading conditions are presented in this work. It was determined that, in increase of fatigue damage (Ni/Np) ultimate stress, yield strength and solidness are decreased which characterizes material weakening. Rupture, in static and periodic loadings, occurs in areas where experimental models experience highest abating in initial condition. The paper shows that the solidness in increase of fatigue damage is decreased by 25% in rupture zone. In the process of fatigue breakdown at Ni/Np = 0.7 there happens a change on fracture pattern from microlevel to macrolevel.

Mathematical modeling of natural gas underground storage in hydrate state

An approach to predict a possibility of natural gas underground storage in hydrate state in corresponding geological structures (underpermafrost aquifers) has been proposed. It is based on the mathematical model of multiphase real gas and water flow in porous media. The model takes into account transformation of gas and water into hydrate at certain temperature which depends on gas flow pressure. The model is able to predict the dynamics of hydrate and water saturation as well as pressure and temperature fields in a chosen reservoir with given porosity, permeability and initial values of pressure, temperature and water saturation. Results of calculations showed that possibility of creation of such gas hydrate storages significantly depends on capacity and hydrodynamic characteristics of the aquifers.
