Study of shale control properties of copper nanoparticles in drilling fluids

The article describes the research findings about metallic nano particles influence on various non-dispersing muds. We found out that 0.0025% concentration copper nanoparticles 40-60 nm in size are rather appropriate when used in combination with electrolytes in order to increase the inhibitory properties of drilling fluids. This increases the inhibitory properties of drilling fluids. Here we show that pH of the nanoparticle treated drilling fluid should be kept in the range of 9-10 in order to achieve the lowest moisture content of argillaceous rock. Considerably consistant results are obtained with mortar, gypsum –lime and potassic drilling muds, where cracks in the samples significantly reduce in size at the expense of high degree inhibiting action followed nano particles injection.

Study on the efficiency of deep borehole heat exchangers

The following paper shows results of several studies, carried out with the Earth Energy Designer program (EED3.21). Having used the EED, analyses on efficiency of the heat extraction were conducted, and measurements of productivity were taken in dependence of variable parameters of a theoretical deep coaxial borehole heat exchanger. The depth of 1000 m and the constant heating load 80 MWh per year were assumed for the borehole exchanger. The variables analyzed were: type of the heat carrier fluid, flow rate of the heat carrier, diameter of the borehole, wall thickness of the inner tube (insulation), diameter of the inner tube, thermal conductivity of the inner tube material, wall thickness of the outer tube, diameter of the outer tube and thermal conductivity of the outer tube material. Due to mathematical basis of the EED program, results of the calculations can be considered as diminished. To operate correctly, the program can use parameters from a borehole not deeper than 300 meters. At greater depths of borehole heat exchangers, results are understated. Therefore the results of analyses presented below can be seen as a pessimistic scenario of the calculations.

The general form of the flow curve of oil and universal rheological model

Obtained flow curves of complex shape, confirming the possibility of the existence of abnormal transition zones of viscosity changes when pumping masout and heavy oil with a low content of light hydrocarbons. It is proposed the general form of the flow curve of oil and universal rheological model taking into account the current state of the oil and the dispersed structure of the system by introducing a correction factor kt, the value of which varies from zero to one depending on the temperature and time spent in static.

Estimation of gas losses while it’s storaged at the gas-condensate fields in Azerbaijan

Absence of any method for determining of intra- and interstratal gas losses in Qalmaz and Karadakh underground gas storages (UGS) makes the implementation of these calculations difficult. The main goal of this study is to derermine the reasons of irretrievable geological gas losses in porous media and the calculation of these losses based on actual data of the storage and the method developed by the Institute. Based on the result of the calculations made, the balance of the underground gases was arranged in a proper way.

The newest tendencies of the world market condensed natural gas: preconditions expansions of export potential Australia, Canada, Russia and the USA

LNG prices are calculated with formulaic reference to oil prices, but the drop in the latter seems not the only factor leading to a decrease in the LNG projects attractiveness: projections indicate an annual decline in gas demand in the range from 2 to 2.3% in the period up to 2020. Hence, a combination of at least these two factors implies the uncertainty for the future of the global LNG market. For all stakeholders the next decade will be crucial in matters of finding the best LNG capacity. In addition, each of the exporting countries will facethe problem of interests balancing in the conditions of low oil price and the forecasteddecline in gas demand. This article examines the challenges and opportunities of development of LNG exports from Australia, Canada, Russia and the United States given the latest global energy market development trends.

Efficiency of sectoral science activity evaluation criteria

In article the objective assessment of efficiency of scientific research and innovative achievements is investigated. A basis of innovative achievements criteria is use width if it is purely theoretical developments, or implementation scopes if it is technical solutions. In that and other case a final assessment behind economic efficiency. The objective assessment of scientific research efficiency, making decisions on increase, restriction or the termination of financing of these or those research works is closely connected with the choice of criteria system by which productivity of the research organizations activity is determined. In work is considered ways of concrete criteria development for evaluation of branch science activity, complex reforming of system, including methods of management, structure of relations of production, funding mechanisms and effective levers of stimulation.

To the assessment hydrocarbon potential zone buried uplifts «Saatli-Goychay-Mugan»

According to the analysis of geological and geophysical data, adapted by the authors, it is concluded that the oil geological and tectonic zoning of the territory of Azerbaijan, the monitoring region «Saatli-Goychay-Mugan» confused researchers. The reason was the negative results during drilling, i.e. search for oil and gas deposits in the studied structure failed except Muradhanlinskoy structure. However, during drilling on some of the structures obtained commercial oil inflow. These and  other factors indicate that the zone may be considered forward-looking in regard  tooil and gas. The authors suggest that the prospects for geological study, the zoneshould be analyzed from the point-of hydrocarbon formation. After analyzing the materials in this aspect, it is assumed that regardless of any formation of oil concept hydrocarbon potential zones of buried uplifts «Saatli-Goychay-Mugan» «hidden» under a thick layer of Cenozoic.

Thermodynamics of complexation reactions of d-elements salts and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene

Polymeric complexes of d-element salts (ZnCl2, CuCl2, NiCl2, СоС12) and poly (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) were obtained. A infrared spectra of complexes reveals that an interaction between the reagents involves nitrile and phenyl groups of the copolymer. Thermodynamic parameters of complexation reactions have been calculated by quantum-chemical methods.
